Those with questions or comments about a proposed new housing complex at the corner of West Fifth and Market streets will have the opportunity to voice those at meetings scheduled for 3 and 6 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Carnegie Public Library.

The Miller Valentine Group will host the two separate informational sessions in regard to the Market Street Lofts apartment complex which is expected to take the place of the former Brooks Building on that corner.

A representative of the development group recently spoke to City Council about the project, explaining its scope and the fact that original plans to renovate the existing historical building were not feasible, so a new building is being planned.

Developers and city officials are hopeful the multi-million-dollar investment will not only provide workforce housing but spur other economic development in the downtown area, as well as remove blighted buildings.

The Cincinnati development firm has developed, own and manage 13,000 units in 19 states, city officials were advised.

Those unable to attend either of the Feb. 2 meetings were encouraged to contact Pete Schwiegeraht at 513-259-7657 or visit www.mvg.com or the company's Facebook page, www.facebook.com/MarketStreetLoft.
